Microblading Aftercare

Microblading Preparation

Microblading Preparation

It is EXTREMELY important to follow these instructions following your microblading procedure to get optimal results. Failure to follow these instructions can cause excessive loss of pigment, discoloration, or infection.

The healing process is in your hands. Please follow these instructions carefully. Your complimentary touch-up appointment must be done no sooner than 6 weeks after initial procedure and no later than 10 weeks after.

  1. Wash brows 4 hours after procedure. Wash hands thoroughly before washing brows. Using a very small amount of cleanser provided, wash gently in the direction of the hair strokes. Rinse thoroughly, leaving no residue on the skin. Dry with a clean paper towel.
  2. Wash brows twice a day (morning and night).
  3. After cleansing follow up with a very thin layer of balm provided using clean q-tips. Do not apply too much balm because this will suffocate the skin and delay healing. The balm should be barely noticeable on the skin.   DO NOT apply Vaseline, Petroleum, Bepanthen, or any antibiotic cream or ointment. There may be some pigment on the paper towel/q-tips as you are drying brows or applying balm. This is normal and just excess pigment and body fluid naturally exiting through the upper layer of skin. Apply balm 3 times per day (after cleansing morning and night and mid-day). If you are oily use the balm only twice per day. If you are dry, balm may be applied up to 4 times per day.

DO NOT PICK, RUB, ITCH, TOUCH, OR SLEEP ON BROWS FOR 10 DAYS!

Important Reminders:

*Use a fresh pillowcase.

*Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away. Picking can cause scarring or loss of color.

*Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for one week.

*Avoid long hot showers for the first 10 days. Important note about showering: Limit your showers to 5 minutes so you do not create too much steam. Keep your face (brows) out of the water while you wash your body. At the end of the shower wash your hair. Your face should only be getting wet at the very end of the shower. Avoid excessive rinsing and hot water on the area.

*Avoid swimming, hot tubs, sauna, and steam room for the first 10 days.

*Avoid using makeup or sunscreen on the area for the first 10 days.

*Avoid direct UV exposure for 1 month. Wear sunscreen and a hat when outdoors.

*No facials, Botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks.

*DO NOT use Salicylic Acid, Benzoyl Peroxide, Scrubs, or any type of retinoid.

What to expect:

  1. During the first week brows will be much darker and thicker than they will heal to be. DO NOT PANIC. This is NORMAL.
  2. By day 7-10 the dark scabbing is beginning to flake off and it will appear as if the color is gone. This is NORMAL.
  3. Between 3-6 weeks the color will start to come back into the strokes. The color may be patchy, the strokes might not be super defined and sometimes the color is lighter or toned differently than we had planned. Anything can be adjusted in the touch-up.
